In Conversation with Anna Funder | Presented by Arts Mildura and Aesop

The Saturday, 9 April In Conversation with Anna Funder event was a near sell-out and audiences gave rave reviews afterwards. Aesop representative, Diane Cook moderated the discussion.
Following the hour-long conversation with Anna and Diane, audience members were able to ask questions, begin discussions that continued well into the SALT Dinner, purchase books from Collins Booksellers and have them signed by Anna.

Anna Funder is one of Australia’s most acclaimed writers. Her 2012 novel All That I Am spent one and a half years on the bestseller list, several times at # 1. It won the Miles Franklin Prize, the West Australian Premier’s Award, the WA People’s Choice Award, the Barbara Jefferis Prize, The Indie Book of the Year, Australian Book Industry Book of the Year, and many others. It was a finalist for the IMPAC and the Commonwealth Writers Prize. Anna’s non-fiction work Stasiland, hailed as ‘a classic’, won the 2004 Samuel Johnson Prize and was finalist for the Guardian First Book award among others. Both books have been international bestsellers and are published in 20 countries.

Diane Cook is Aesop’s Copywriting Manager. Before joining the company in 2012, she worked primarily in the film industry and academia; and for the five years immediately prior, in marketing communications. Her previous roles include Creative Development and Cultural Activities Manager at Film Victoria; lecturer in screenwriting, television studies and communication at RMIT; freelance script editor; and freelance assessor of scripts and screen culture projects for Screen Australia, Film Victoria, Screen NSW and Screen Tasmania. She has also written on film and television for Cinema Papers and The Age Green Guide respectively.She is affectionately referred to as the ‘pen’ of Aesop.
