Opening of "Quoted" at Gallery F

Wednesday May 2,  saw yet another well attended event opening at Gallery F.
The "Quoted" exhibition was opened by Arts Mildura Chair, Domenico de Clario, who spoke to a full house to officially open this range of diverse and engaging works by local artists.  

GALLERY F is an exhibition and workshop space, run by artists, for artists. The committee is a dedicated group of volunteers, passionate about fostering the creativity of local emerging and established artists, makers and crafts people; by facilitating exhibitions and workshops locally, and developing national and international networks.

GALLERY F exists as a not for profit community organisation in conjunction with and supported by Arts Mildura.

Gallery F will be hosting a group exhibition this May and are calling for entries.

Participating artists are asked to consider the exhibition theme "Quoted".

Wether you quote another artist, or respond to a literary quote or simply reiterate your own creative production.

SONGS FOR ALBERT a presentation of songs who's beats and chords of the accompanying keyboard and guitar are slowed very considerably in order to better reveal the lyrics’ poetics. In so doing the songs gradually become a single seamless narrative, one continuous lyric and one unbroken melody.

In 2015 the Mildura Writers Festival announced its inaugural Mildura Writers Festival Residency. The Residency will tkae place again this year with Melbourne-based writer and psychogeographer, Nick Gadd.

2016 Mildura Writers Residency Call for Applicants

Building on the success of the 2015 Mildura Writers Festival Residency, Arts Mildura is pleased to announce the residency will again be offered in 2016. The Mildura Writers Festival Residency will take place between
7 July – 7 August 2016. Application forms available from mid November here.

Completed applications are due by COB 22nd January 2016.

Weaving Stories

A gathering of more than twenty Indigenous weavers in Mildura this weekend marks the beginning of an ambitious intercultural arts project for the Mildura Palimpsest Biennale #10. The weavers are beginning a nine month long project – Weaving Stories which will conclude during the Biennale a spectacular long weekend 2-5 October 2015 when more than seventy International and national artists will gather in Mildura for the full Biennale experience.

The Melbourne Cup long weekend saw Sunraysia filled with the sweet sound of Jazz, with music from twelve visiting and local bands spilling onto the streets and along the Murray River.

DEAR CHRIS is the final exhibition for the Wallflower Photomedia Gallery 2014 calendar. It is a series of colour photographs and a video work that will be exhibited across the three gallery spaces. Artist Katrin Koenning will be in Mildura for the exhibition opening and welcomes press interviews.

A Night at the Opera

On Saturday night, Arts Mildura successfully paired up with the Mildura Brewery and Victorian Opera for A Night at the Opera, featuring performers Olivia Cranwell, Jeremy Kleeman, Elizabeth Lewis and pianist Phoebe Briggs.

Arts Mildura is pleased to announce the opening of Formal : Informal, a joint exhibition between Jonathan Kimberley, Janet Burchill & Jennifer McCamley. Jonathan will present a new durational wall drawing and video projection and Janet & Jennifer will present diagrammic wall works and paintings.

This exhibition expands on what photography presently is and can be looking forward. It includes darkroom and digital works, installation and printed t-shirts. View from the Window also has an insightful catalogue featuring an essay by Chrisopher Williams-Wynn (limited copies available from the gallery).

Wallflower Photomedia Gallery: Tall Poppy Syndrome + Rest Stop

Made by American artists Amy Stein and Stacy Arezou Mehrfar in the Mallee and Riverland areas surrounding Mildura, this series explores the social phenomenon of tall poppy syndrome in which successful people are “cut down to size.”

Palimpsest #9

Mildura Palimpsest is a biennial visual arts event that invites artists to engage with the cultural and natural environment of the Mildura and Murray Darling region.  Mildura Palimpsest is dedicated to high quality, critically engaged contemporary art in all forms. We aim to provide opportunities for real dialogue between local, national and international artists, and across disciplines.  Mildura Palimpsest #9 will be held October 4-7, 2013.

Wallflower exhibition
